FAQs

What are eyelash extensions?

They are individual extensions made of a synthetic material to look like perfect natural eyelashes; thicker at the base and thinner at the tip with a slight, or dramatic curl. We utilize different techniques to achieve the look that’s right for you! They are adhered one by one to a natural lash with a medical-grade bonding adhesive giving the appearance of a darker, more voluptuous lash-line.

How long do they last?

An average eyelid has approximately 100 natural hairs which shed at an average rate of 20-30% every 2 weeks. Therefore, when the natural hair sheds, so does the extension that was attached to it. Since new hairs are always growing in, refills can be performed to attach extensions to the new growth keeping the lashes looking full continuously or for as long as you wish to maintain them.

On average, refills are recommended every 2-3 weeks to keep the lashes looking their best. With proper maintenance semi-permanent eyelash extensions can be kept up indefinitely through regular refills.

What is the application process?

Clients are welcomed to the salon, complete waiver and client intake forms, and then shown to a treatment bed. Your lash stylist will have a short consultation with you as to understand the style you’re after. You will lay on a memory foam pillow and your lash stylist will position you for optimal comfort and access to your natural lashes. We place a hydro-gel under eye pad under your water line to hold your bottom lashes out of the way. You’ll close your eyes (and keep them closed for the entirety of your service) and your stylist will adjust the under eye pads and ready their materials. An overhead light, two tweezers and medical tape for lash positioning, are used by all of our stylists— they will then use their tweezers to isolate each natural lash and place each extension. Full sets are anywhere from 2-3 hours and Fills vary from 1-2 hours, depending on the artist. Overall the experience becomes a nice time to relax and even take a nap!

What are the differences between Classics, Hybrids, Volume & Mega Volume?

Classic lashes are the most natural look, this adheres one singular (thicker) extension to each one of your natural lashes. HBLL also uses “YY” lashes for a natural look but each individual lash is shaped like a “Y” and helps disguise any potential gaps during the shedding process between appointments

Volume lashes are the most customizable, we hand-pinch very thin, soft lashes to create a fan of varying thicknesses & weight according to the clients desired outcome. (Mega volume is the same technique but with the maximum thickness of each fan able to be safely added to each natural lash)

Hybrid lashes combine the two techniques.

All techniques can vary in length according to clients wishes.

What do i do prior to my Appointment

Remove all eye makeup and clean your natural lashes with an oil-free cleanser.

  • Expect to lay on a treatment/facial bed for 1-3 hours depending on your service and stylist, but don’t worry— most clients take a nice nap!

  • Avoid caffeine and any other stimulants that may cause your eyes to flutter involuntarily.

  • Refrain from curling or perming your natural lashes prior to receiving your full set.

Will eyelash extensions damage my natural lashes?

Our application technique and premium products will not damage your natural lashes. It is imperative to the health of your lashes to have each natural hair isolated when an extension is adhered to it and ensure proper separation so that the hairs can continue to grow and shed as they would naturally. We only use a medical-grade adhesive which is made exclusively for lash extensions. This combination of our top quality adhesive and individual lash attachment will sustain the health and integrity of the natural hairs indefinitely.

Can anyone get extensions?

Anyone with an eyelash to attach to can receive eyelash extensions. However, if you have any of the following conditions we advise you to schedule a free consultation with a HBLL stylist prior to scheduling a full set to best determine if lashes are right for you.

  • Extremely sensitive eyes or skin

  • Eye infection of any kind

  • Allergy to cyanoacrylate (this is used in acrylic nails and most adhesives of any kind)

How do I take care of my EXTENSIONS?

Keep oils away (including oily makeup, makeup remover, serums)

Keep hands off! Use your brush instead of your fingers to fluff them & keep them in line.

Wash lashes free of oils, buildup and makeup residue, daily is preferred.

Heat tends to distort and singe lash extensions, so avoid hot ovens, grills, lighters & fires.

Avoid sleeping on your face.

Avoid mascara and be very careful with liquid liner

Do not curl your extensions.

What if I need my extensions removed?

Eyelash extensions can be easily removed by a HBLL Stylist using a special gel remover formulated to quickly dissolve the medical-grade adhesive and gently wipe away the lash extensions. The process is painless and will not harm your natural hairs – taking less than 30 minutes. Please do not attempt to remove lash extensions yourself as this can cause damage to your natural lashes, oils break down bonds but will not completely remove your lashes.

What happens if I need to cancel my appointment?

If you need to cancel your appointment, we simply request that you do so at least 24 hours in advance. If you do not cancel within 24 hours of your appointment, you will be considered a no-show for that appointment and your card on file will be charged 50% the amount of the scheduled service. If you need to cancel during non-business hours, feel free to leave a message on the salon’s voicemail.
